Tales of Neo Gaurdia, sadly, has been closed for the time being. Project leader and original creator Zeal has decided to step down after a rather large setback. Upon deletion of core backup files, Zeal had some problems with the hosting computer, resulting in a complete wipe of the most recent server files. Therefore, with the only remaining server backup, dated September 2005, he has decided to discontinue Tales of Neo Gaurdia. Be that as it may, I attempted to convice him to continue, but to no avail. I don't want to see the game die. I've been a member of the original Plains of Gaurdia since its first release a few years back, and I returned for Neo Gaurdia when I heard it was open for closed BETA testing. It is a great game with a lot of potential, and I enjoyed it from the standpoint of a player and a sub-gamemaster/mapper. So, Zeal, level headed young man that he is, decided it best to let the last remaining server backup to be taken in order to perhaps let the game be expanded upon by someone else. I volunteered, and Zeal handed me the files and leading position. I know some people, without a doubt, prefer Zeal over myself as Project Leader, but Zeal has made his decision, and I respect that he has things other than a game to worry about. So, now that I've bored everyone to death with the full story, I'll explain what I plan to do: First, I plan on revamping the GUI for the game before I reopen it in a beta state. I had been working on the GUI while Zeal was still working on the game, but fell behind because of other things I'd been working on. Next, by around February 20th, if not earlier, I will open the game in an open beta stage. There may or may not be new features coded in, depending on how I use this next week. I hope that, before the end of March, most of Gaurdia will be mapped, and Kraken and Gera'ld will come later. So, if you haven't already noticed, I'm not changing this game around. I will follow Zeal's storyline as best I can until completion, whenever that may be. Everyone should stay vigilant for the client to be available again for download during the next week. More later.
