You must ENSURE that
-you will cross check this with one of youur other colleagues - a nursing staff (qualified) or a doctor
-enter the amount of morphine taken out (nnumber of ampoules) of the drugs cup board
-keep a record of the amount remaining moorphine ampoules in the controlled
drugs register kept in the ward and sign it (this should be signed by the
person administering the drug and the person cross checking).
-It is important that you - ARE p; A SAFE DOCTOR.
A SAFE DOCTOR ALWAYS INSIST THAT THE EXPIRY DATE OF MORPHINE/NORMAL SALINE OR ANY GIVEN DRUG SHALL BE CHECKED
A SAFE DOCTOR DOES NOT FORGET TO write the concentration, rate of flow on the syringe and
sign it. DON'T FORGET to check your calculations with a senior colleague
