BASICS
OF BREEDING
In
order to breed Pokémon, you don't need to have a male and a female of the
same kind. Plus, sometimes you won't be able to get them, for example, you
can't get a male Jinx. The best thing to do is catch a Ditto as soon as
you get to Goldenrod City. Dittos are genderless, and can breed with
almost any Pokémon. However, some Pokémon like Mewtwo, Voltorb and Lugia
don't have a specific sex either, so you won't be able to breed those. If
you don't want to use a Ditto, you'll have to find Pokémon that are of
the same kind (two pikachus), similar in appearence (a pikachu and a
sandshrew) or at least of the same type (a Pikachu and an Ampharos). You
can know if the Pokémon like eachother by checking them once they are
together in the Day-Care Center (Click here for more
info). Note
that the baby Pokémon's appearence will be the same of its mother.
A
final fact: did you know that eggs can be traded just like Pokémon? And,
since eggs don't have an ID Number yet, the baby'll have yours when it
hatches, even if it has been traded.
|
Once
you have the Pokémon you need, the next step is getting to the
Day-Care Center close to Goldenrod City. |

|
|
Then
you have to give the female Pokémon to the Lady and the male
Pokémon to the Man. |

|
|
Both
Pokémon will appear in the house's yard. |

|
|
Here
you can check them to see how much they like each other. |

|
|
Now
you have to walk around and after a determined number of steps,
depending on how much the pokémon like each other and other facts
such as ID Numbers, the Man will appear standing in the yard. Go
talk to him. The Man will ask you if you want to keep the egg.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN EMPTY SLOT IN YOUR PARTY and answer YES.
Note that if you say NO,that egg will be lost and you won't have
any chances of getting it. |

|
|
Now
that you have the egg, you must carry it with your other pokémon
and walk a lot so that it can grow. You can check it to see how
long will it take to hatch. Three messages will appear as the egg
grows:
 |
Wonder
what's inside? It needs more time, though. |
 |
It
moves around something. It must be close to hatching. |
 |
It's
making sounds inside. It's going to hatch soon! |
|

|
|
Some
time after you get the third message, the egg will hatch. |
