So far I have built 4 telescopes, ranging in size from 4.5" to 12". They are all newtonian reflectors and all are basically dobsonian mounts. With the exception of my 6" all have mirrors I ground, polished and figured myself. My 6 inch was built for a reason- I wanted to see the Shoemaker-Levey comet hit Jupiter. I thought it would be a once-in -a lifetime event. I was right, and the scope was up to the job. The mirror is a 6"f8 from Orion Telescope, the tube is a sonotube and the mount is "standard" plywood/Dobsonian. It has a curved spider for the secondary mirror, and a Crayford focuser that is homemade. If you would like more information on this or any of My scopes, just e-mail me. I'll try to help if I can. |
