The 8 inch scope is an f7. I made it after my first attack of "aperature Fever". It has proven to be a great scope and I have used it extensivly. This scope has a full thickness pyrex mirror that I ground, polished, and figured myself. I decided to make an f7 because it seemed to be an easier job than the faster f6. I'm pleased with the results. Both planerts and deep sky views are great. As with my 6 inch, the tube is cardboard and the mount is ply. It also has a curved spider and homebuilt crayford focuser. All my scopes have curved spiders- I hate diffraction spikes! Curved spiders don't eliminate diffraction, just the spikes that straight spider "legs" cause. |
