not long ago
the weather beyond your skirt
was dull sky brewing rain.
typical stuff.
but you rub off on things.
if i look at everything
just right
even insolent rednecks
and lazy toads
peek through trembles
like climax.
it may sound obvious
but did i tell you
ONE WAY signs spin?
alright it's scary.
like your laughing at things
i haven't said yet.
*
a minor acquaintance tells me
what happens next
how i fall in love with everything
because you are there
how i faint from the heat and awaken
your cool hands upon me
yet i miss winning numbers by a digit
forget to set the alarm
or check expiration dates
what a miserable life
my acquaintance shakes his head
because i've fallen in love with it all?
with my own meanderings?
my dilution of purpose?
my abstraction of a life?
no he says.
because you could watch foul weather
instead of the rise of her skirt
and the flash of her thong
he says. yes
my glands have been flung to the cosmos
i say half-joking.
*
heading for her thighs
i cheat and follow her scent
close my eyes and hiccup
'my darling!' repeatedly
until it's gibberish.
*
I'm hard for you.
Lift your skirt.
