beguiled by reason

I saw moon children, the
madness, your meteor tongue
vibrating I love yous and light shoo-ees,
the kind Poe sweated in his plays despite
the O my darlings from Lenore, despite my

heartbeat

under floorboards playing you harder than
lips at hips, sound in sleep
soft in a cat's deep season
lips dropping only broken paraphrases of Browning

tear verse on a red breast for the soul square
merging us
with all the rosescerise-tipped
turning windy rooms taupe
blurring window pains

a bumblebee river
burns in you with a focus high
under her clothesnipples & skin you

celebrate and leap into airy
plaintive turnings lambent and focused

dances - her hands and insects
how-tos your
day, and

the lift ~ remove this window
nights fire my sleep and its verse

I dance, gauze shading her share, with the
Sedan crown for concubines & wet water
plexiglas linen feeding love for

a womb, a murmured house

dromedaries carry stories
over a room eloping across May stars
leaping the bayonets and blue-steel

of your madnessspot
the never-so, the somnolent journey

of the gondolier
