THE KETLEY FAMILY

The Ketley name is not a particularily common name, but it does have small groups of family members all over England and Scotland. The name Ketley, appears to have originated in scotland during the Middle Ages as "Kittel". There are many varients of this name including, Ketley, Kettley, Kitley, Kittle, Kitel, kitell, to name a few. I am not yet certain as to how/when the family has moved to Southern England, but i am tracing this with my "Ketley one name study."

MY family of Ketley's moved to New Zealand & Australia in the 1900's. Before that they moved around the london area. From about 1700 to about 1850, the appear to stay around Great Waltham & Broomfield in the Chelmsford area in Essex.
