MIAMI UNIVERSITY

I am currently a senior at Miami University. I am an education major. I try to do as much as possible at Miami (except sleep and homework.) I am a former member of the Miami University Marching Band (MUMB), the Basketball Band, and the Hockey Band. *sob* I would still be in them, except, uh, I have to student teach and graduate. *sob* I no longer have someplace to play music and act like a fool. Oh, wait, I still do that stuff...just not with the band. But, I'm still upset to leave the band.I love music (I've been playing since I was in third grade) and watching the games can be fun too. I am a "flute-toting band geek" according to the movie American Pie. But, please don't make too much fun of me just because I happen to play flute, have red hair, and like to talk about band! Oh, by the way, "This one time, at band camp..." I am currently going to Spectrum meetings. Spectrum is a great group, and I think everyone (who has an open mind) should go to the meetings. If you want to know more about Spectrum, ask me. Or come to one of the meetings. They are Thursday nights in Upham. College Republicans is my source of political stimulation. I am a dues paying member, who goes to about three meetings a year (only reason why so few, though, is because I've always had some other meeting at the same time...but this year will be different, really!) I enjoy helping the MUCR's with campaigning in the fall and spring, and this makes me feel like I'm helping to make the world a better, more republican place. :) (Oh, FYI, it is now April and I have not been to one meeting this year, and I haven't paid my dues. I'm a bad, bad girl!) *Amendment: I am a *former* member of the College Republicans. I have not been a member since my sophomore year, because of time conflicts, but I am a supporter of the CR's. I was also the acting president of Roles of Reality (an acting troupe dedicated to diversity.) We performed all over campus...until the other members of the group didn't feel like performing at rehearsal...or even showing up for rehearsal. At that time Mike (a great guy who basically was the heart of the group) and I decided it would be best to let Roles die. It was a very sad day when we laid it to rest, but I think we all learned something from the whole experience. I work in the Instructional Materials Center at King Library. We have textbooks,workbooks, and the such for teachers, juvenille books, movies, newspapers, and microforms. I really enjoy working there. It isn't too strenuous, and if nothing's going on, then I can work on homework or even on my website! ;) I have a second job in the library now. :-D I work in Stacks Maintenance. That means that I look for books and periodicals laying around, pick them up, in-house them, then put them away. I also shelf-read (check to make sure that everything is in the right order and is fairly neat and orderly.) Not a very exciting job, but it pays the bills. I am the student representative on the Library Committee (oh, I'm big, bad, and important now!) This is my second and final year in the position. I enjoy it because I get to listen to the professors' opinions on things (like the *great* president at this University. *chuckle* In the past I have been the Community Service Chair for Collin's Hall (frosh year), Swing Hall (soph year), and Wells Hall (junior year). Addtionally, I was the Recycling Chair for Wells (since I was the CS Chair, it came hand in hand. Now I live off-campus, so I can't do that stuff anymore. I miss it, but I'm keeping myself busy with other things...you know, like school work! OK, as of right now, that's all the things I can think of that I do at Miami.
