Meta Tags are commands or statements that can be implemented into html for search engines to read. The two basic META Tags are the Keywords and Description for your site. Always make sure to have the META Tags inside of the HTML documents HEAD and /HEAD Tags.

META .........name=DESCRIPTION

CONTENT=up ...to... 200 characters

META .........name=KEYWORDS

CONTENT=up ...to...1000 characters

Using META Tags on your page.

If a keyword is repeated 7 times or more, ALL keywords are ignored. If your site uses frames or Java, use META tags if the search engine supports them, because just using the first 200 characters of the body on this type of Web page will most likely produce useless information.
Do not put words into your keywords list that have nothing to do with the purpose and content of your site. While putting words like 'sex' into your keywords might get you some extra traffic for a while, a couple of things will happen quickly.

One, the search engines will figure you out and drop you from their service.
Second, the traffic you get will be very upset and will probably FLAME you for false advertising.

If you don't know what a flame is, congratulations. They are painful and to be avoided at all costs. Check it out. Avoid it. If you want the public to find your site by conducting a search using one of the various search engines currently available on the Web, there are several factors to consider: Include Keywords Appropriate for Your Product & Market. Since many search engines, spiders, and indexers focus on key words, be sure to include all the terms that your customers might use when looking for a product or company. To find the appropriate keywords.

Be aware most search engines will index the contents of the ALT= part of an IMG tag (image or graphics statement). Why do we bring this up? Well, many of you will build home pages that are primarily graphics with links deeper into your site. Such a page doesn't allow for a lot of text, after all, that's what the pictures are for! If you have used the ALT= to put in some descriptive comments about the purpose of your site and some good keywords, you will get much better placement in the search index. This should in no way replace your efforts to put keywords into your META statements.

In order to know what's working and what's not, it's important to analyse the traffic and know where your visitors are coming from, what platforms/browsers/operating systems are used by your visitors, which pages are most popular and which are never visited, and also what keywords visitors are using to find your site.

We are your turning point!
