NASO
: Native American Student Organization
at the University of Pittsburgh
Goals:
-to present a balanced and accurate portrayal of contemporary Native America and its people,
-to provide a good atmosphere which will encourage Native American students at the University of Pittsburgh to join
NASO and participate in the activities,
-to provide activities that educate the University community on such topics as:
- Reservation life
- Urban Native organizations
- Powwows
- Current Native movies, musical performances, lectures, etc.
- Joint ventures with local Native American organizations.
We will take part in University student activities and hope to provide enrichment through the use of guest speakers
and performers. We will bring in guest lecturers based on suggestions of members and vote of the majority of the membership.
Meetings:
The time and place of regularly scheduled meetings will be determined by the President.
Because of growing demands placed on our elected officers, all meetings will be announced as they can be planned.
We are actively recruiting new members and look forward to a mixer in the fall where you will have an opportunity to
meet current members of the organization and possibly enjoy some drumming and dancing.
