My story begins with a hand-stitched tapestry I made at about age eight. It is a tribute to my fascination with horses and my Mother's fabric stash ("Rag Bag" as she called it). As my high school graduation gift I received a new Singer Fashion Mate sewing machine of my own. This was the machine I mastered and used for most of my earliest work. As the years went by, I made and designed many of my own garments and those of my two growing children, including an entire decade of Easter outfits. I also taught myself how to quilt during this time.
Over time, I have dabbled in smocking, embroidery, and counted cross stitch and other needle arts, always restless until conquering it and then searching for the next challenge. Recently, I have become interested in vintage Western wear, clothing for Re-enactors and Renaissance wear. Beaded jewelry and baby blankies are new sidelines. But my first love has always been sewing clothing. My Grandmother's White art deco treadle sewing machine is a constant reminder of my sewing heritage, and I was proud to update my collection of machines with the purchase of a White serger last year.
So, my friend, if you don't see what you want, ask me and I will do my best to make it for you. |
