The Great Seal of Scotland, Scotland's medieval record of property transactions, mentions Pittarthie numerous times, although the majority of these are asides in conjunction with transactions relating to other properties, there are three charters directly pertaining to Pittarthie. Whilst these are of more historical value than as a resource to potential restorers, they do support the theory that there was a fortified structure at Pittarthie prior to the existing structure.

NB. The entries below are direct translations of the latin charters, therefore Pittarthie appears as Petterthy, Petterthie, Pitairthie etc.

Great Seal of Scotland - Charter 720, 30th May 1598

Great Seal of Scotland - Charter 1471, 26th July 1603

Great Seal of Scotland - Charter 1474, 28th July 1603
