Title: A day in the park

Very pre-slash

Summary: One a fine day, Baby Ray met Baby Benny
Note: Babies do have these spontaneous reactions. I saw my niece doing all those things to kids she barely knew, from mere instinct when she was a rugrat. I found it sooo cute it immediately reminded me of our boys.

A day in the park

The young mother deposited her little bundle of joy in the sandbox of the public park with great care. With great care, she put a big red Tonka truck in his chubby hands so he could play. The baby gave out squeals of delight. The baby boy was too small to really play with the truck but the toy used to belong to Cousin Vinnie, and now it was his turn to play with it. Others would follow him in playing with Cousin Vinnie's Tonka truck.

The warm, sunny day gave plenty of other mothers from the neighbourhood the same idea, so the park was teeming with kids. They were running, jumping, falling, squealing and laughing. Everywhere was filled with sounds of young life and joy. The young mother turned to the other side and checked on her older daughter in the swings with all the other four-year olds.

Happy with the big red Tonka trunk, the chubby baby cheerfully moved his legs and arms. He wasn't old enough to talk, and he still needed a pacifier, a big green one, to match his green eyes, but he knew his way around the sandbox. If any kid tried to take away his truck, he'd yell loud and even try to bite the nasty offender.

At that moment, though, chubby baby Ray was intent on playing with Cousin Vinnie's big red truck, making gravel and getting sand all over him. Another baby was put by his side. It was a beautiful baby, not similar to any he'd ever encountered in that sandbox. That baby had beautiful black hair, and quite a pelt, too! Red jumpers, and rosy face, but he was so unhappy. His mother put him there and went away. The new arrival began to sob quietly, very hurt.

Baby Ray just knew that the beautiful baby was feeling alone and abandoned. He forgot all about the Tonka truck and crawled closer to the crying baby. Too bad they couldn't speak yet. Baby Ray'd try to make the other baby happy. He'd do anything to make the beautiful baby smile.

Without hesitating, Baby Ray plucked out his pacifier from his own mouth and put it in the sobbing baby's mouth. Baby Benny got startled at first, then realised that sucking at it felt good. Yes, it was good. He looked at his new friend, his big blue eyes wide in surprise at such a generous friend. There was a wide smile in green eyes from the baby at his side.

But alas! Baby Benny, who didn't even have any toys, sure as the Sun was up every day had never have a pacifier. So, Baby Benny ended up letting the pacifier fall on the sand. He started, afraid that he had angered his new friend and he would leave him alone, too.

But Baby Ray came even closer to baby Benny and kissed him in the cheek. And Baby Benny smiled.

Mrs. Vecchio returned. "Ah, Raimondo! You got yourself a new friend? And he is such a cute baby boy with big blue eyes! Very polite. I think you'll become best friend, eh?"

The End... but we all now where it went, right?
