Club Trophies
These are the Club Medals we use for Inter Club Competitions and Annual Presentations to members for their trophy shoots. These medals are quite substantial, weighing several ounces and are made of bronze.
Obverse of Club Medals
We made these up for our weekly competitions to give members something to reward their performance and they have proved to be very popular. The images are compiled on Corel Draw and printed on a very pale blue marbled card which is then mounted in the simple acrylic frame shown. Each event has a different pistol on it for each of the International Matches
These are The Aggregate Trophies we use for our Annual Trophy Shoots. They are awarded to the shooter with the best total aggregate score for six of a particular International Match and the trophies are highly regarded by members.
These little fellas are used for a variety of purposes at our Annual Awards Presentation Night.
This year (2002) we have decided to inaugurate a Perpetual Four Match Teams Trophy to be shot for by four person teams from all clubs at our November Open Weekend. The main trophy will be held for the next year by the winning club and each member of the winning team receives an individual trophy, which they keep.
The main trophy is made of 20mm thick acrylic and is reverse laser etched. The four pistols illustrated on the trophy show the four matches which teams have to compete in - Free Pistol, International Centre Fire, Air Pistol and Standard Pistol.

Something New
Our club did some research about what people do with their trophies when they get them home and the results were interesting, to say the least. Most people, it seems, either put them in a box or in a drawer and there they stay until a new batch joins them. In an effort to try to reverse this practice and to make trophies more relevant to each of the matches shot at an Open Coompetition, the club is going to trial the following trophies at its November 2002 Open Weekend.
The idea for these trophies originated with the weekly handicap trophies and we came up with a design which allows each match to have an image of the relevant type of pistol for that match and which caters for the normal gold, silver and bronze protocol by using gold, silver and bronze wreaths around the target centre as well as gold, silver and bronze lettering for the placing. On the reverse of each card will be shown the name of the winner and his/her score for that match. The trophies are mounted in the same clear acrylic frames as for the handicap trophies and the card is a dull cream, textured  finish which looks very stylish when viewed in the flesh, so to speak.
We hope this change proves popular with competitors. If not, then it's back to medals again next year.
The provision of trophies for Competitions, whether at Club level or higher, gives most organising managers heartburn. The one thing which is certain is that no trophy will please everyone. Our club has tried over the years to be innovative with its trophies and we continue to try to come up with something different and hopefully better, to justify the expense of entering competitions. We decided to include photos and details of the trophies which we currently use and which we plan to try this year, in the hope that it may give other clubs and shooters some ideas for their own competitions.
