John was first married to Margaret Elizabeth Martin; they had 3 children. We don't know the cause of Margaret death (& speculate that she is buried in an unmarked grave beside John in Janes Cemetery).
In 1895 John married Mary Ellen 'Mollie' BECK.
Mollie gave him 8 more children.
John was a blacksmith & belonged to the Brotherhood of Masons.
