A hearty warm welcome pirate lovers to this 4th page of airchecked memories of the last 3 years of the longest running European Offshore station.  Some of the recordings on this site are of poor quality, unfortunately I cannot improve them much.  I think in these days of CD quality and FM and Digital Radio we have forgotten what AM broadcasting was all about, getting through all those pops and fading and staying tuned to your favourite 'FREE RADIO STATION'.
Here are two DJs who were on Caroline 558 in 1989, Ian Miles and Nick Jackson.  These recordings were made a few weeks before the raid that year.  Click on the buttons  and hear again these rebels of the airwaves.
Nick Jackson on the first button, then Nigel Harris with another 'WOOLY' recording.  Under the third button is Stuart Clark reading the news, finally under the 4th button is another aircheck from Ian Miles.
Richard Lee is the dj on these 3 audiochecks, he seems really jolly and up for it. Relive again those wonderful watery memories when we had one radio outlet that was 'FREE'.
John Tyler on all of these airchecks from early 1987, I really liked his presentation style on both Caroline 558 and Caroline Overdrive.  Caroline Overdrive was like a 80s version of Radio Seagull, whose dj's all sounded as if they were as high as kites.  Overdrive had the same laize faire attitude, but their dj's used Dutch Shag tobacco and cack spanish lager, which enhanced the radio shows.
Here are three airchecks from from Rico in 1990, here was still sounding as enthusiaistic as ever, even though the conditions on the Ross at the time were really bad.
Another page of Caroline airchecks has been filled,  I hope you are enjoying hearing those hardy swashbucklers who had to put up with a lot of hardships.  Please visit this site again, you'll probably find a few new updated airchecks from those anarchic people on those Pirate Radio Ships.
