So when I get home from work today my car will not be in the driveway. I've donated it to Kars4kids.org on their website they say you don't need to give them a title which is good cuz I still haven't replaced the one I lost. I'm glad to finally get rid of it, but at the same time I'm sad. I've had that car for about 12 years. It has served me well. It never broke down on the side of the road abandoning me somewhere scary. It always made it "just a nother couple of blocks PLEASE" to get me to my destination. When the battery went out, that was directly in front of my apartment building so I could use the battery charger to get it going again so I could get a new battery. After 12 years and 149,000+ miles it's only on its second battery. That's the car that took me to Cincinatti, Joplin MO, and Waupaca WI. It got me to and from work each day for a few years. It was the first car in my name....and so far the ONLY car in my name. I'm losing the "pogue mahone" bumpersticker and the Starfleet Academy window sticker...the other window cling things too are going away with the car cuz they're so old they'll leave pieces of them behind if I try to take them off. It is the end of an era...Pattie and the Dodge Spirit are no more... long live the Dodge Spirit!!
CTA Board President Carole Brown made the call Thursday, ordering staff to get Santa's choo-choo chugging, pronto.
From the sound of this news story at the Chicago Sun Times it seems that an underling made the mistake of cancelling the the holiday train. But I really suspect that from all the bad publicity the bosses and board members caved under pressure and decided to blame this fiasco on some unnamed staff person. The CTA is STILL evil.
OHMYGOD! I just watched LOST from this past Wednesday and WOW! That was crazy..that guy is not from the plane...but no one knew....and he's trying to kill people and chick went to a psychic who put her on the plane... Is ANYONE ELSE watching this?
I'm telling you, the CTA people are not particularly bright... Take for exmple the fact that the CTA is cancelling the holiday train. Yup, they put the ax on the train that is decorated inside and out all festively for the holidays and rides along each of the lines with employees dressed as elves in each car taking donations for food pantries. Riders pay the usal fare to ride this train, some CTA employees donate their time to decorate the cars. It's not like they're losing money with this train. The holiday train does nothing to hamper or help the budget, at least this year. So why is the CTA making this PR snafu and saying "no holiday train this year"? Because they're stupid. Because the CTA management knows NOTHING about how to do their jobs and rally the people of the city behind their cause. If they were doing their jobs right, the population of the city of Chicago would be on the state legislators' asses to help bail the CTA out of the hole it's in. Cancelling the "holiday train" isn't going to solve the budget shortage it's just going to make more people in the city pissed off at the CTA management. If they were smart they'd publicize the hell out of this holiday train and show what could be lost NEXT YEAR if they don't get the funding they need. But ya know....what do I know, I just work in advertising...I know nothing about the budgets of public transportation agencies in big cities.
You may not belive this but Mabel is right now this minute sitting on the couch in front of me and Christian (the little dog) is on my lap. Sam (the big dog) is lying on the floor in front of the three of us and well...you'll belive this, Bijou is in the kitchen crying because she's "starved". That's right kids, Mabel has progressed in her fear and hatred of the dogs enough to come lay on the couch with me, even though one of the dogs is taking up my lap space. I'm so proud of her. There are still moments of hissing and growling from her, but overall she's able to behave. And the dogs...well, They are extremely well behaved. Not going close to Mabel at all.
I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving. I made ham and stuffing and some other stuff. We had too much food but that was OK by me. We sat quietly around the house for the rest of the day watching TV. That's what I said at 2:59 PM
