80's Box Part 2

So I finally went through the 80's box. I found every card given to me (birthday, Christmas, Valentine's etc) since I was 10. Both of my Jr. High yearbooks were in that box, and yes, every Star Hits/Smash Hits magazine I bought while in high school.
I found a Jr. High report card. I wasn't doing so well in English that quarter. But the first quarter I was on the honor roll. My 7th grade report card, my English teacher says I wasn't applying myself well enough.
I found two binders with "plays" that I wrote in high school....yeah, they went out to the trash. Time to let go.
I've saved a couple of the amusing things, I'll scan them in and share pictures soon.
However, the distressing thing was that I dragged the box out to the trash with all the remnant roll wrap I've saved for no real reason. The next morning, the box was gone. I feel violated. Someone stole my 80's box and they're going through my childhood, they're touching the cards my GRANDMOTHER gave me! It feels so wrong that someone else is going through my stuff. I threw it away...it should stay garbage! But the Trash Stealer is out there....taking your useless crap away...beware!

Gmail4Troops.com

So I got requests for invites to send to our troops and one of the guys replied with such a nice thank you note it brought tears to my eyes... I guess that little gmail invite really made his day. So...once again I ask you all to donate remaining Gmail invites you may have to Gmail4Troops so our guys over in the middle east can have the needed space for photos, videos, etc to send to their family and friends.

Not so Good

so how bad is it really if on your first day at your new job, by around 2:30pm you find it hard to keep your eyes open? Like you could totally fall asleep sitting there? Is this a sign of some kind? Should I be worried?

of garage sales and boxes labeled "crap"

So this weekend was the garage sale, we managed to make $135 and got rid of a good chunk of crap. I learned the key to a successful garage sale isn't to try and make a lot of money, but instead to try and unload the stuff. Tell people to load up boxes or bags for $3-5 is the best way to get rid of most of your excess. They feel like they got a great deal, and you're happy cuz the stuff is just gone.
Once the signs were up in place around the neighborhood, the people started rolling in...who says it's not important to advertise?? If they don't know you're there - they can't come by!
My only problem was with those who came buy who didn't speak English... How can I get rid of my excess of books if these people don't SPEAK much less READ English. I have nothing against folks who don't speak English but I was trying to get rid of many many boxes of books...if you can't read them...I can't force you to buy them. Then there was my Donnie Wahlberg poster...I couldn't unload that onto anyone... very sad. Although there was one old man, I just KNOW he wanted that poster, but with Dave around, he was too ashamed to admit he wanted it. I just couldn't get Dave to go in the house, poor old guy missed out on his New Kids on the Block poster.
So...as I was trying to push this stuff off on people I noticed one of my boxes was labeled "CRAP" now how do I make this stuff sound good if I've got a box clearly labeled "CRAP" in front of these people...All I can do is hope they don't notice or that they don't read English.
It worked out well enough, and in the end we just donated the remaining books and glasses and "stuff" to Goodwill. So the stuff is gone, and we now know where the Goodwill drop off is so I can donate more stuff from the 80's box once I decide to open it...
