She lays on the bed squinting at me. Her mouth parted open just enough to see the sliver of a pink tongue sticking out. She turns her head toward the window acting like she doesn't see me here, like she doesn't care if I exist. She pops up and sits primly her ears twitch at a noise I can't hear. She turns away from me trying to make me feel insignificant, as if I mean nothing to her. She licks her paw and rubs it over her ear and takes a peek my way to see if I'm watching...HA! I caught her checking on me. I knew she cared about me. |
