"What took you so long?"
"Well um...you took off before we did."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, you just don't want to admit that you were beat by a girl."
"You wait, I'll get you we are going to play drinking games after the show."
They started to unsaddle the horses, a joking banter flowing easily between them. Once in a while AJ would brush Pipers arm or get a whiff of country apple drifting from her hair. It made him smile, he never thought that he would meet someone like her. And feel this comfortable with her in only two days. Lisa was right she was definitely cool. Piper yanked the saddle off Ringo, and took a step backwards smacking into AJ.
"Oh I'm sorry! I didn't mean too"
"That's okay Piper, no harm done." he said still holding her arm "Here let me take that for you."
"Okay if you insist but the saddle is kind of heavy Aje.
"Oh it's UFFF." he almost fell over "How do you make it seem so light?"
"Years of practice my dear spiky haired one." she laughed.
AJ took the saddle to the tack room and put it on the rack. He strolled back to the stall where Piper was brushing Ringo down. She was humming a song to herself, it sounded like something Brian had listened too a long time ago. Ty England- that's who it was, AJ suddenly remembered. Now what was that song called? Piper brushed past him putting her hand on his arm to make sure she didn't trip. She headed down the shed row toward the tack room brush and bridle in hand. AJ listened as the song she was humming suddenly turned into words.
"Her heart could tell at a glance, she would be falling for him. She knows she's taking a chance but still goes out on a limb. She knows he could be for real, or he could be in disguise. Although she may have a heart on fire, she don't have smoke in her eyes."
AJ stepped into the tack room and closed the door. He was going to try and make his move, he stepped up behind her. Piper turned around and had AJ's hands on her face. |
