"The place that we discussed earlier you do remember how to get there right?"
"Yes sir, I sure do." the van moved swiftly through the streets of Lexington and
onto the dirt road, just south of town. She was enjoying the scenes of the country
side, they reminded her of home.
"So Piper I heard that you like to ride horses." AJ said interrupting her thoughts.
"Umm... yeah I don't get home much to do it anymore, but I love to ride." she
paused for a minute "So where are we going AJ?"
"Just wait and see your going to love it I promise."
"Oh yeah your sure I'm going to love it huh?" she joked.
"Uh yeah I'm sure, why don't you look out the window.?"
Piper turned and looked out the window as AJ asked. Seeing the gateway sign
Bradley Horse Farm. A smile spread across AJ's face, when he saw her eyes light
up.
"AJ are you going to buy a horse or something?"
"No but you are going to show me how to ride."
"Um okay..." Piper said uneasily. The driver stopped the van in front of a long
row of barns. AJ flung open the door and reached back for Piper. Asking her if
she was ready. They walked down to the third door and through a long shed row.
"Mr. Bradley?" AJ said letting the owner know that they were there.
"Hello?? Alex?? I presume." the tall gray haired man said.
"Yes sir that's me."
"Let's see here, you said that your girlfriend is an accomplished rider."
"WHA...." AJ cut her off. "Yes sir she's been on a horse since before she could
walk.
"Ringo should do her good then, and for you Alex...I think Bo will suffice." They
went to their horses, and saddled them. AJ needed a little help, but finally they
climbed on. They took out onto the long trail that wound around the farm. Piper
rode ahead a little ways, suddenly feeling normal again. AJ watched he, noticing
how easily she handled the horse. She noticed how far ahead she was and pulled
Ringo to a stop.
AJ rode up next to her. "Well about time you noticed how far behind we were."
"Im sorry I just felt so comfortable and relaxed. I haven't felt like that for a long
time."
"So you like it? Your present, I mean." He asked nervously.
"AJ I love it!" She smiled "No one has ever done anything like this for me before."
"It's nothing I just wanted you to feel relaxed." A smile spread easily across his
face "Want to race?"
"AJ you better hope you can still sing tomorrow."
"Why's that?"
"Cause I' m going to smoke you!" Piper dug in her heels, and let Ringo have his
head. Before AJ knew what happened, Bo had taken off following his pasture
mate. Piper leaned closer to the horses neck, a laugh escaping from her. Bo
caught up easily with Ringo, AJ heard her laugh. He thought to himself how
childlike it made her seem, he already felt like he knew more about her by just
watching. AJ hoped she would let him know more eventually.
