{roThe AMX 30 B2 was first designed in 1958 for the french army, not being its production started until 1966, by GIAT industries. No more of this widely extended tank are being built now. In fact, it's being replaced in the french army for the new Leclerc MBT. The tank in the picture is a AMX 30Bs MBT, not in service with the french army, developed just for export, mainly to the middle east french-friendly countries.

This upgraded model fits a number of improvements that have maintain the AMX 30 in the modern field of battle: Computerised fire control system with a laser range-finder, night vision system, NBC, better suspension, improved powerpack, even it can be equipped with a snorkel for deep fording. Depending on the owner country, some of them are fitting an Explosive-Reactive-Armour system. This is a very good example of a re-youthning experience for a versatilñe vehicle, capable of using most fuels.
