{ro China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO) produced this tank exactly we don't know when, but was seen in public for the first time in 1982. The Type 69-II MBT is also produced under license in Pakistan.

This is the natural development of the Type 59 MBT, based itself in the russian T-54 MBT. Soon the Type 69-II MBT was developed, with a more powerful 100 mm rifled main gun, instead of the fitted in the Type 63-I, a 100 mm smooth bore gun. Also the new version have a computerised fire control system, with Laser range-finder.

Standard equipment includes an NBC system, a fire detection and supression system, and night vision equipment. o}
