{rollType 63 Norinco Light tank is based on the development of the amphybious PT-76 russian tank, developed in China as the Type 60, and delivered to this country in 1958-59, as a part of the military assistance program.

The main difference between the Type 63 and the Russian PT-76 is the chinese turret of cast sections welded together, with a 85 mm gun. Also the chinese model has a more powerful powerpack. With some preparation, the type 63 is fully amphybious, reaching 4 mph powered by two water jets mounted at the hull's rear.

Standard equipment didn't include NBC or fire control systems, but a few have been seen with a laser rage-finder.o}
