| INNER (LAUGHTON) Strength from the hope we have inside strength from the belief in which we confide Burnt into our souls and hearts holding us together with the power that is The only way forward, finding a way through the struggle beating the best Through the crowds never have rest over the top reactions we see From unexpected sources in which we believe that they hold the keys to our inner love Simon: A small song about the hope and dreams and beliefs we all have. Title by Pete. A SENSE OF DIRECTION (LAUGHTON) Colour in the way we view our sights associating a word to an emotion Getting up for the time ahead focusing on the goals we need Left or right, ahead or behind always certain to win in the end Its all in the mind of the people playing the game on the field of dreams Colour in the way we view our sights associating a word to an emotion Getting up for the time ahead focusing on the goals we need Formatting the time we have to use routines or just set in our ways Personal ways that everyone has psychology that defies belief Simon: This song started off about psychology in sport, and then moved onto the personal ways of different people and how we handle different situations. Title by Pete. FUTURE THOUGHT (LAUGHTON) Settle down in yourself you need to calm your thoughts of times ahead Relax your inner turmoil to help yourself clear your sight Visions of the space age ahead but where are you going to be Plans are made then re-arranged only a few things are certain So dont think about the future settle into the present Forget the past also because its how you feel now that counts Another Laughton song, seems that December is a very productive month for our Si. Anyway, this is a very nice little ditty about the future and how we should not concentrate on the past or the future, but now and what we are doing at this particular moment in time. I feel like that as well, everything about studying history at school why? Its happened. Get over it and move on, looking at what happened fuck knows how long ago is not going to help us right here, right now. Its kind of interesting to see how times have changed certainly, butultimately pointless. I know things like wars and major events can have an effect on modern times, but I think this is part of the reason why kids find history on the whole, a boring subject. TWO FACED (LAUGHTON/MUSCUTT) Friends they seem but behind your back their slating you and the things you do Meet with them and to your face they seem so sound, dont turn around Chatting away then time to leave say your good byes, and then the lies Back to the same way it was before of trust theres none, now no more fun Two faced inside an exterior lie to deceive you as they perceive you Theyre not the kind you want or need a friend in greed is a friend you never need Is there an explanation needed?! Well, not when Simon first wrote this, but since then, Ive come up with a title (frighteningly similar to something Louise released, methinks! Pleeeeeeease dont sue us!!!). Yeah, I thought this one was very good indeed, the idea of friends being totally conniving double crossing bastards wholl stab you in the back at the first chance if it means they can get ahead in life. Like that film Shallow Grave. Being one of Simons mates, it does make me rather nervous he feels this way about all his mates, but I think not. I reckon it has more to do with the fact that many of his mates at his football club left to go somewhere else. Perhaps not, because he didnt write an explanation to this song. I get a co-writing credit here (only the second song ever to be a collaboration) because the last two lines are mine, whereas the previous four are by Simon. Oh, and I thought of the title as welldamn, mentioned that already. Oh well, doesnt hurt to mention it again does it? WITHIN PEOPLE (LAUGHTON) Time goes by and I wonder why things in people that make you cry But also smile, frown and laugh its within people this time I pass I like the girl, I dont like the style I like the girl I dont wish the denial Ill have to pass loved it all the time Ill have to pass loved you through the rhyme Someone to trust and one to hold is the one you want to be told That likes you and doesnt fade then you have got it made I like the girl I dont like the style I like the girl, I dont wish the denial Ill have to pass loved it all the time Ill have to pass, loved you through the rhyme With the hair and the eyes can you trust do they lie Trying to forget what might be trying to forget what might be I like the girl I dont like the style I like the girl, I dont wish the denial Ill have to pass loved it all the time Ill have to pass, loved you through the rhyme Simon has said theres no explanation for this song, but I know its about a girl he liked who kept flirting with other people, and this song is kind of about saying you like someone but cant stand how they behave and ignore you all the time. SUFFOCATION FROM THE SKY (MUSCUTT) It came in from the sea in a mist of solid mass Over the town and people buildings and estuaries it passed Floating high but getting lower as it comes in to the shore No-one knows where it came from but when you open up your door Youll see the foam approaching floating down onto your face Covering all living things the threat to the human race Suffocation from the sky I bet you never thought youd die today Suffocation from the sky I know youll wish you lived so high some way Now its obscuring the vision of the airborne craft as if someone used too much bubble bath You try to walk you end up choking this has to be a dream someone has to be joking You clear a path from the doorway to the car The days not gone too well oh well at least not so far Suffocation from the sky I bet you never thought youd die today Suffocation from the sky I know youll wish you lived so high some way This song was inspired by a dream I had about the town where I lived being encased in this bubble bath-like foam stuff. It was pretty weird, everyone was suffocating because they were breathing it in and everything. I like the rhyming in this song too, something I picked up from the way Simon writes his songs. We have a kind of two way thing going on Ive (apparently) inspired him to write more, and hes inspired me to write shit that rhymes. It works pretty well. |
