APRIL 2002
FUCKSUMMERS (APRIL 2002) (MUSCUTT)
And so the terror has come again well what do you want from me?
Do you want me to make it go away? So you can live your life in shame
You know its all your worth in this discarded summer time
Sit alone in darkened bedrooms watching fluid dripping down from the walls
Are you really alone in that darkness of yours or is there somebody there to help you
You want senseless sex and overdoses trips to A and E and phone calls to exes
Taking all you can so you covet in your lair where you belong
Taking all you want so you can count it in despair
Taking all you can in this summer time season nightmare
Take everything you want because I really couldnt care

Another song about selfish people, something I know Simon doesnt like. This is about someone who takes everything, I dont know what, but is really narrow minded and in the end turns out quite pathetic because they live alone in some dark flat somewhere, hiding from life. And before you ask: no, that line about fluid dripping down from the wall is not some sick metaphor for masturbation.

ATHUR AND MARTHA (MUSCUTT) (APRIL 2002)

When you moved in next to Arthur you never thought he had a wife
But when you met her in the garden you realised he had a life
And do you think about her when you sleep
Maybe youd do something about it if he didnt sleep so deep
Arthur and Martha are inviting guests for swinging a week today
Will you take up their invitation or will you go astray
And do you fantasise about sharing when you sleep
You might be able to while hes alone and counting sheep
And as you leave for work one day Arthur asks if youre OK
He says thank you for last for last Friday it was really quite a day
And he knows youll think about it when you sleep
Because your husband doesnt care yeah Arthur says he is a creep
But dont linger on it always cos you have other things to do
Youre fucking Arthur and his wife and yet he doesnt have a clue
And does he think about it while you sleep
Well maybe so and maybe not but hes still a fucking creep

A song really about sexual freedom. Theres this woman who is tied down to a relationship with a man who is not interested in sex and she soon gets bored and starts talking to her neighbour, who is in his sixties but is a right kinky bugger. So she starts going to orgies and shit round his and his wifes house and really enjoys it, while her husband never has a clue about this secret life she leads. An interesting concept, I think this goes on more than youd expect. Especially those active pensioners, I bet they love getting their ends away. Impotence doesnt affect everyone you know. Ever read about that porn star who is in his sixties? Exactly what this song is about.

WE CAN REBUILD YOU (MUSCUTT) (APRIL 2002)
You always wanted to break free but now youve done more than that youve messed it up you see
And me? Well I have been waiting for the day when I could say you know I always told you so
But these doctors say they can rebuild you they can take your life in their hands
We can rebuild you yes we can get you back good as new youd never know what happened to you
I saw you sleeping or maybe youre on drugs the nurse said you could hear me but could you really in your sleep
And its like painting by numbers its always the same nearly every day is it really worth me coming here
But these doctors say they can rebuild you they can take your life in their hands
We can rebuild you yes we can get you back good as new youd never know what happened to you
But have you really loved someone even though youre far away and have you ever wondered why
It seems so futile while youre away but so worthwhile when youre together I say as you lie sleeping
But these doctors say they can rebuild you they can take your life in their hands
We can rebuild you yes we can get you back good as new youd never know what happened to you
And I dont know if youll ever awaken and see my face looking back at you it seems unlikely yet somehow
I never ever lose hope in you I just want to see your smile one more time before I die
Dont let the final words I said be symbolic of this shit youve landed in

This is about someone in a coma and wishing they'd wake up.

SAM (FELLOWS/LYONS) (MAY 1997)
Sam she is brave she is kind I think youll find shes always to count upon
When Im feeling blue she comes to the rescue
Sam she forgives and forgets shes the bestest chum Ive ever had
Sam hasnt any money but Ive never ever met her sort
But now Im glad I did because shes the bestest sport
Sam she is brave she is kind I think youll find shes always to count upon
When Im feeling blue she comes to the rescue

A short song written for the finale of a play I performed in as part of my GCSE drama assessment. I think it was written by a classmate called Rob Fellows, who now has his own band (last time I heard). Though I think another student in my group called Nici Lyons may have written part of it.  I had to sing the last two lines, as part of my character Clarence, who was generally a posh bastard and didnt have any friends until this girl called Sam became my friend. The play was called Friends Forever I believe, and I had the main part. We had to perform it three times in one day, around all the primary schools in our area. I thought Id stick it in here for pure entertainment quality, I found it in my loft the other day. Its quite a simple song, but it was aimed at 5-11 year olds, soI guess it fits.
