ESCALATOR THOUGHT TRAIN (MUSCUTT)
Coming off the train at three thirty five AM take the escalator to the lower levels underground
Thoughts and visions veer off on the eternal downwards journey glimpses of certain lives
The man coughing up alcohol on the stairs and the woman struggling with pram and baby
The hooligans spraying shit again covering walls with spit again running back when the fuzz show
Keep heads down look at ground never feel the cold hand of the slipstream blowing past the away team
Come out on Eastern and watch the black space stretch away into distance so far so good so far no blood
The mice between the tracks look back surprised by sudden noise near heart attack checking this way and that
See the stairs fill with stars never going far so many people here usually but tonight theres nothing
So deserted and undeserving the door to station master swings open all dull metal and rusty doorknobs
Check the clock it nearly rhymes with the bloke messing around bet he charges money to suck cock
Pimping himself by the entrance offering up to busy business men but watch the clock got to be back for ten
But look the escalator stops and whats gone wrong with the tronics, whats the matter cat got tongue?
Approaching next in two minutes from Whitechapel scene of the crime committed not mine
But trains not here whats the time check the right line the map of the town and what stop we at on underground
What stop we at on underground? Underground never found always lost but never found on the underground

A song about travelling on the underground in London, partly inspired by all that urban stuff the guy from The Streets writes about. I tried to get some interesting rhyming in there, not sure how well it came off, but hey.

WHITE HORSES (MUSCUTT)

Performing your own skits, churning out the same old tired mike shit
Record contract leads to unprecedented number one chart hit
Live appearances Later with Jools and Top of The Pops at the top one week the next youre dropped
But this is the price you pay for the life of fame
Regular citizens reading Hello spot your face and play the name game
Signing everything from CDs, DVDs easy Es and break beat 12 inches
Caught up in the life you ignore the fact youre not invincible
Not invisible and youve got the same chance of being done by some bloke with a knife
If this life was white horses theyd be pulling your hearses
Weeping family members wiping tears away pulling tissues from purses
No curses its bad to die but not when you use it as a welcome diversion
From the hurt and confusion this life of hotel suites brings
Endless cheats from a girl you thought you loved
So take some Doves and up above the world aint so tough
And youll be glad you had that tab in the bogs when you felt sad
So get to grips pull yourself together taking drugs aint big but it makes you clever killing never
This is the Freak City Kids from Devon getting back to council flat to slack our way through life
With drink and drugs and it stands at that
If this life was white horses theyd be pulling your hearses
Weeping family members wiping tears away pulling tissues from purses
No curses its bad to die but not when you use it as a welcome diversion
From the hurt and confusion this life of hotel suites brings
Thats the bottom line cos Stone Cold said so and dont argue because were in the know
Late night trips to girls in Soho talk to Brenda she knows a punter and what you get for a tenner
Dont bring no munter this is real shit taking hits from her indoors
Because shes seen this before and we dont break the law
It dont exist no more these flats are all whores and no doors
Stinks of piss and dead fish so gentlemen lets get to business
Stripping off watching lesbian sex with your current squeeze and your ex turns you on
John get the weed from the draw and lock the door were gonna have a good time
If this life was white horses theyd be pulling your hearses
Weeping family members wiping tears away pulling tissues from purses
No curses its bad to die but not when you use it as a welcome diversion
From the hurt and confusion this life of hotel suites brings

One of my longest songs I think, and The Streets influence is stronger still than on Escalator Thought Train. This one is about a pop star who gets dropped and then goes into a depression and ends up having threesomes with prostitutes and his girlfriend and lives in a scummy tenement flat somewhere. No idea why I called it White Horses, just sounded a nice name.

CONTENTS NOT IMPORTANT/DAMAGE IS DONE (LAUGHTON/MUSCUTT)
I
m kicking out at all the geezers bringing them to their knees with greatest of ease
Falling foul of their own lives geezers without wives trouble and strife
No plans a good plan in the right hands of this right band liking the sound contents not important
Swinging the beat from the street king of elite and cool prevails no one dare fail
Parents pushing sons and daughters succeeding like they ought to
Rolling in the money seems a bit funny because he dont get caught doing his import/export
Blinded by the notes daggers and cloaks so yeah no formula necessary getting loud and lairy using the language like
Too much to sat and come what may critics and negative combine so divine to slate the tunes all lies
Closed eyes and closed minds underground or over rated casual sex you dated
Lucky people with the loot you could shoot claim the lira to start a new era
Too much hassle just hear the music see it if you can use it get you by but dont abuse it
The damage is done now the wars been won somehow both sides fought one side lost
The weaponry used was of an urban elite selected for pain and the intent to maim and make them bleed again
Multi storey at eight dont be late bring those blades for purposes other than to interrogate
The fight lasts minutes over before either side could win it rematch arranged for next week the outlook looks bleak
So once again I must raise my head to fight close my eyes tight and know Im fighting for something right
Its the principle they say I must lead the way to a better tomorrow yesterday and today
For all our childrens children and so they play again safe in their den in the rain
Beware of the stare aware of the lies behind all the eyes looking at you finding clues super sleuth blues
Sherlock Holmes and broken bones lying in state on a certain date the fourth of June 1988
Pages growing yellow over the ages tell the story or face the consequences

Another Streets influenced track which is actually like two songs in one from the damage is done its by me, all before that its Simons lyrics. Its very good I think, although Im not sure what its about. But hey, does the boy need a reason? My part is about a fight in a car park, and how it resembles a battle between two sides.
