The ones that started it all. Probably still the best of the Gym Leaders; Red, Yellow, and Blue introduced us to the concept of Gym Leaders and Badges. From the Boulder Badge to the Earth Badge, you'll be a Champion in no time with these tips!
Gym Leader Battle #1: Pewter City: Rock Types, Boulder Badge Brock Red & Blue Geodude: Level 12 Onix: Level 14 Yellow Geodude: Level 10 Onix: Level 12 Recomendations: Water, Grass, Fighting, Ground Well, those of us who chose Squirtle or Bulbasaur will blitz through this battle. For Charmander and Pikachu users (like me); it's time to train, train, train! There aren't many Pokemon around at this point with attacks that will be super effective again's Brock's Rock types, unless you chose Squirtle or Bulbasaur. The best bet is to stock up on Pokeballs, catch and train a bunch of Pokemon, and try to outlast his Geodude and Onix.
Gym Leader Battle #2: Cerulean City Water Types, Cascade Badge Misty Red & Blue, Yellow Staryu: Level 18 Starmie: Level 21 Recomendations: Electric, Grass Pikachu and Bulbasaur trainers will be happy here. Pokemon Yellow players can get Bulbasaur in the house next to the Pokemon Centre, which helps even more. For those training Squirtle and Charmander (don't worry Charmander users, your Charizard will be well worth the trouble of the first two Gyms), Pikachu was available on Route 2, but if you didn't catch one, you can't go back to get one. There are a variety of Grass types found on Route 24 and 25, but you have to fight alot of trainers to get to them. It's up to you what you do.
Gym Leader Battle #3: Vermillion City Electric Types, Thunder Badge Lt. Surge Red & Blue Voltorb: Level 21 Pikachu: Level 18 Raichu: Level 24 Yellow Raichu: Level 28 Recomendations: Ground, Rock While you could go through all the trouble of raising one of your other Pokemon to the point of learning a groud or rock-type move, or waste Brock's gift of a TM 34, lest we forget that Diglett's Cave is about a two second walk from Vermillion Gym. There, you can load up on Diglett and Dugtrio and knock Lt. Surge back down to private in a matter of moments.
