| Playing With The Big Boys Now . . . Pokemon, in Japan, sold twice as much as Playstation's "Final Fantasy VII" and was more popular than "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening!" It was also the reason Gameboy outsold Nintendo 64 in 1997! Mario, you better watch out . . . there's a new character in town! Link Who? At a video game exhibition, Pokemon 2 (Gold & Silver) was the main attraction for Japanese reporters! Other games at the exhibition? Oh, only little ones like the hugely anticipated "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time." Money Doesn't Grow On Trees . . . It Comes From Pokeballs! Sales for Pokemon products reached $40, 000,000,000 (American) in 1999! Woah! You Forgot The "Chu" The Pika, a small rodent found in the northern parts of North America, is a real animal! But . . . If you decide to go out and try to capture one in a Pokeball and are caught by the Humane Society, well . . . you didn't hear anything from me. Ash is a Girl? Every character has a voice actor. To make sure that Ash's voice wouldn't deepen over the years, Nintendo hired a woman to do the voice acting. Which explains why Ash's singing voice is so strange. (Nintendo ran into the same problem when casting for Young Link in the "Zelda" series. His voice is also done by a woman.) Just in case you needed to know that. "Hey, What Side Am I On?" The guy who does the voice acting for Brock also does the vocals for James from Team Rocket. The woman who does the voice of Misty also does the voice of Team Rocket's Jesse. Talk about your split personalities! Move Over, Mouse Pikachu was rated the fifteenth most loved cartoon character of all time! He beat Mickey Mouse for crying out loud! Yeah Pikachu! I Believe I Can Fly . . . Like a Pidgey in the Sky . . . In Turkey, two children aged 4 and 7, leapt from the roofs of their houses after watching an episode of Pokemon and believing they had gained Supernatual powers and could now fly. A lawsuit began when a Heath Minister said Pokemon confuses children with talk of good and evil and disconnects them from reality. . . . uh . . . . anyone here who has ever seen an episode of Pokemon and so thought they could fly raise your hand. Puh-lease. If this guy wanted to ban every tv show that had good and evil in it, they must not have any programming but the news and the Turkish equivilant to Martha Stewart! Argh! What are they expecting? The Flying-type Pokemon to scuttle around in the dirt? Maybe not pointless, but certainly stupid enough to be here. Back |
