A Legend Is Born
This section probably should have been called, "Aaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhh!" but I didn't think anyone would know what it was. We all know that the Legendary Pokemon cause hours, sometimes days, of frusteration and insanity. And as if they couldn't get any more frusterating, Nintendo comes up with Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Latias and Latios. Uggggghhhhh. Yes, everyone wants to catch one, and show it off, but they can drive you insane while in the process of catching one. I've written this based on my own experiences, to help you. You can thank me later. Pikachu's Guide to Becoming Legendary Is a sort of Pokedex for the Legendary Pokemon. For complete stat and attack listings, as well as a quick re-telling of the Pokemon's legend, Click on the title above! Not to be missed if you're about to go Legendary Pokemon hunting!

Anything written in blue is for those of you who are hunting Raikou, Suicune, Entei, Latias, or Latios. For those of you that aren't, pretend the blue stuff isn't there. Got it? Good. Preparation for Battle Obviously, you can't go into battle unprepared, and that goes for any game (ever been caught without a Life Shroom in "Paper Mario?" Arrrrrrghhhhh!). This list will help you prepare for combat, so you don't get creamed in the first five seconds. Everything you'll need is on this list: If you have a Master Ball (the cheap and easy way): 1. Master Ball 2. 50-100 Max Repels (feeling lucky?) 3. A Pokemon with Fly If you don't have the Master Ball (the REALLY expensive, time consuming, frusterating way): 1. 50-100 Ultra Balls (at nearly P2000 a piece, this ain't cheep!) 2. 50-100 Max Repels 3. A Pokemon with False Swipe (Scyther, Farfetch'd, Eevee) 4. A Pokemon with Fly 5. 20-40 Hyper Potions 6. 10-20 Max Revives 7. A Pokemon with a Sleep Attack (I used Jigglypuff's Sing) Make sure your Sleep-attacking Pokemon is FIRST in your Party!!!!!!!! The Hunt: This is the most annoying part of the entire thing. Tracking down Entei, Raikou, Suicune, Latias, or Latios can be even more frusterating than getting caught by a Wallcrawler outside a boss chamber in "Zelda" (done that. Another "Arrrrrghhhh!" moment) I've tracked a Raikou, myself, and I NEVER want to do it again. It could take hours, days, even MONTHS if not done properly. I've written down my stragety. It worked fairly well, only taking me six or seven hours to find Raikou once. Here you go. Oh, and good luck; you'll need it: How the Legendary Pokemon Move: Every time you cross a border into another area (for example, from Route 24 to Route 25) the Legendary Pokemon move one Route in a random direction. If you Fly somewhere, their locations will be randomly shuffled around Johto. They are always in the grass, never water or dungeons, or inside buildings (phew!). However, Ruby and Sapphire players, Latios and Latias CAN fly over water, so my advice is wait until they journey into an area with grass; water is just too broad an area to search. Run into a Legendary Pokemon. They appear at random in the grass, so there's no telling when you'll run into one. Sorry, but it's all blind luck. Pick a city where three Routes join, for example, Violet City. Fly to your city and check your Pokedex. If a Legendary Pokemon is TWO, that's TWO, Routes away from you, slap on your Max Repel and head toward it. Cross your fingers and REALLY HOPE that it moves toward you. If it doesn't, or there isn't one near you, Fly back to your city to shuffle their locations. If it did move toward you, start walking through the grass. Don't take forever, though, it doesn't stay on one Route very long. You have but a few minutes before it takes off to another Route. Just walk in one direction through the grass toward the other end of the Route and hope you stumble accross it. Sounds simple enough, doesn't it? Ha. That's what I thought before I started. You just wait. If you actually do run into a Legendary Pokemon, DO NOT PANIC! REMAIN CALM, IT'S OKAY! Move to the next step. Combat! IT'S OKAY! DON'T PANIC! Once you find your Pokemon, there are two strategies you can use. The easier one is pretty obvious. . . Battle With A Master Ball 1. Throw the Master Ball at your Pokemon. Gee . . . that sure was tough, huh? Not. Anyway, for those of us who are Master Ball deprived, follow the next steps. Next
