Pokemon Gold, Silver, and Crystal introduced us to the land of Johto, and eight new Gym Leaders to battle for new badges. Once players got their final badge and defeated the Elite Four, they watched the credits roll, but the game wasn't over. Traveling to Kanto, trainers battled for the original eight badges, which meant alot more training for their Pokemon (and alot more typing for me.) If you're stuck on one of the 16 Gym Leaders, the Elite Four, or the Champion, you're in the right place . . .
Johto Gym Leaders
Gym Leader Battle #1: Violet City Flying Types, Zephyr Badge Falkner Pidgey: Level 7 Pidgeotto: Level 9 Recomendations: Electric Rock If you picked up that Onix in the trade near the Pokemon Centre, you're in luck! Falkner's Flying types are weak against Rock (DO NOT USE GROUND TYPE ATTACKS! Flying types aren't affected by Ground type attacks.) If you somehow managed to find an Electric type this early in the game, use that to fry Falkner's team.
Gym Leader Battle #2: Azalea Town Bug Types, Hive Badge Bugsy Metapod: Level 14 Scyther: Level 16 Kakuna: Level 14 Recomendations: Fire, Flying, Rock Those of you who chose Cyndaquil will be happy here. Bugsy's team of Bug types are very weak against Fire type attacks, so fry 'em if you can. If you chose Chikorita or Totodile, grab some Spearow from Route 33 (there are billions of them there) or some Pidgey from Route 34. That Onix may come in handy again, as Bugsy's Pokemon may have problems using those annoying Poison attacks. Speaking of Poison, bring tons of Antidote, you'll need it.
Gym Leader Battle #3: Goldenrod City Normal Types, Plain Badge Whitney Clefairy: Level 18 Miltank: Level 20 Recomendations: Fighting, Rock I can almost garuntee that by the end of this battle you will never want to see another Miltank ever again. Whitney's Miltank knows Rollout, which attacks with more power every turn it's used. That Onix will come in handy again. If you're not into Onix-training, Fighting types also fare well against Normal. You'll want a bunch of Revives handy for this battle!
Gym Leader Battle #4: Ecruteak City Ghost Types, Fog Badge Morty Gastly: Level 21 Haunter: Level 21 Gengar: Level 25 Haunter: Level 23 Recomendations: Ground, Psychic Morty uses pure Ghost types. Ghost types are weak against Psychic and Ground types. That makes your Pokemon selection is pretty simple.
