| Gym Leader Battle #5: Olivine City Steel Types, Mineral Badge Jasmine Magnemite: Level30 Steelix: Level 35 Magnemite: Level 30 Recomendations: Fire, Ground, Water Steel types aren't exactly the toughest types in the game. All of Jasmine's Pokemon are weak against Fire types, and EVERYONE should have a good Fire type by now. If you don't, use Ground types against the part Electric Magnemite, and a Water type for the part Ground Steelix to turn Jasmine's team into scrap metal. |
| Gym Leader Battle #6: Cianwood City Fighting Types, Storm Badge Chuck Primape: Level 27 Poliwrath: Level 30 Recomendations: Electric, Flying, Psychic Chuck's team, although small, is quite tough. Psychic is the best way to go here, as Psychic attacks are super-effective against Fighting types. Watch out for Poliwrath's Dynamic Punch attack; it almost always Confuses. Use a strong Electric type to fry that fish. |
| Gym Leader Battle #7: Mahogany Town Ice and Ground Types, Glacier Badge Pryce Seel: Level 27 Dewgong: Level 29 Piloswine: Level31 Recomendations: Electric, Water I know the help guides always say to use Fire types against Ice, but it doesn't actually work. Ice types almost always learn a Water type attack of some type, which can KO your Fire type before it even gets a chance to attack. Go for electric with the Seel and Dewgong. It works, trust me. For the Piloswine, use a Water type. Fire just doesn't work here. |
| Gym Leader Battle #8: Blackthorn City Dragon Types, Rising Badge Clair Dragonair: Level 37 Dragonair: Level 37 Kingdra: Level 40 Dragonair: Level 37 Recomendations: Electric, Ice A good, strong Electric type is the way to go versus the Kingdra. As for the Dragonair . . . well . . . you haven't happened to be training an Ice type all this time, have you? If you have, show those Dragons that they're not actually all that legendary. If not . . . time you made a trip to the Ice Path. |

| Elite Four Battle #1: Psychic Types Will Xatu: Level 40 Exeggutor: Level 41 Slowbro: Level 41 Jynx: Level 41 Xatu: Level 42 Recomendations: Dark, Electric, Fire Dark is the best type here, since every one of Will's Pokemon are part Psychic. If you don't have a Dark type, no big deal. Use a Fire type against the Exeggutor, and an Electric type versus the two Xatu, the Slowbro, and the Jynx. Will is probably the easiest of the group. |
| Elite Four Battle #2: Bug/Poison Types Koga Ariados: Level 40 Forretress: Level 43 Muk: Level 42 Venomoth: Level 41 Crobat: Level 44 Recomendations: Fire, Psychic, Electric This can be a long, tough battle. Koga likes to Poison your Pokemon, so bring lots of Antidote. Psychic type attacks are effective against all Poison types, but if you don't have a strong Psychic type, Fire types can take down the Ariados, Forretress, and Venomoth. Electric types can fry Crobat and Venomoth as well. |
