2008 has been another busy year:-

We started the Spring term by visiting Pinhoe Panto in which a few of our guides were taking part.  In February we attended the District
PINK Disco and ended the term by going on one of the Exeter Red Coats "Ghost and Legend" Tour - not sure if 1st April was a good day to go!  We also worked for and gained Confectioners, Communicators and Music Lovers badges.
The summer term we went to the Theatre again, this time to see the Exeter Scout & Guide Gang Show, in which a couple of our guides were in the cast.  We took part in the annual St Georges Day Parade down through Exeter High Street, ending with a service in the Cathedral.
Throughout this year 5 guides have been busy working on their Baden-Powell challenge and a couple of the evenings have been organised and run by them, like the internal evening and fashion show.  All 5 attended the BP Challenge Adventure weekend at Brixham.  And during the summer term they have all finished - Well done.

Our Unit will be 90 years old in 2010!!
17 guides took part in the County's Activity Day at Barton Hall, Torquay.
We delivered the Christian Aid envelopes which we do each year for the church, and have started working on the Active Response and Finding Your Way badge.  The latter coming in handing for 4 guides who entered the
Hurdlestone Challenge where they had a great time and enjoyed the 8.5 mile incident hike, coming 70th out of 92 teams - not bad for first try.

Our unit is planning a trip to Switzerland in 2009 with 4 other guide units and the Ranger unit from Exeter, so we have been busy fundraising and had a weekend get together in June, which included a cream team afternoon.

We try where possible to get out and about during the lighter evenings - and have had a joint sports evening with the other guide unit in our district, an evening of backwoods cooking at
Caddihoe; a quiz around the Quay in Exeter and a train trip to Dawlish for fun and games on the beach.

SUMMER CAMP - July 2008, with all the bad weather we have had, just as well we were staying indoors at Grenville House, Brixham.  18 Guides from our unit, joined with 4 other guide units and the Ranger unit to form 55 girls enjoying a week of activities, like yatching, abseiling, high ropes, problem solving, raft building to name a few.  Highlight of the week had to be the Pirate boat trip with Captain Jack Sparrow!
