In October, 2005, Bev Bensel joined a team of doctors and nurses under the auspices of Refuge International, spending a week on a Medical Mission in Guatemala. Our printed edition tells of Bev's experiences with the Guatemalans, how very poor they are in material things, yet how positive they are, and grateful they were for the Americans ministering to their needs.
Former resident Cal Pahel was fondly remembered for all the kind deeds and personal assistance he constantly gave to his neighbors during his years in Pine Lakes. The lovely, large rose bush that he and his wife, Ardith, planted and tended still graces the corner of the lot where their home was located.
Water Aerobics Classes are conducted by Joyce Wilson and Duffy McKnight every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings (weather permitting) in Pine Lakes swimming pool. The exercises used are those recommended by the Arthritis Foundation Water Aerobics Guilde.
"Just a Walk in the Park" is the title of this photo, featuring our ducks and geese parading in the snow beside our lower lake last March. Looking at this photo should help you to feel a little cooler during our hot July weather.
Our Pine Lakes Hiking Club offers  a full schedule of weekly hikes, plus they host an annual, week-long, fall outing. This fall, they will be going to Payson, AZ, and doing several hikes along the Mogollon rim. One of the hikes will be along Fossil Creek, shown at your left.
The Brins Fire, which began on June 18 a few miles north of Sedona, AZ, caused the evacuation of 430 homes and 30 businesses. It chared 4,200 acres of very scenic land and took over a week to be brought under control. This is a reminder to each of us to be especially careful when outdoors, as any little spark can start a wildfire during our hot, dry summers.
