Aeryn

Name - Aeryn Sun
Species - Sebacean
Rank/Regiment - Ex-Peacekeeper Officer (Special Peacekeeper Commando, Icarian Company, Pleisar Regiment)
First Appearance - #0101 - Premiere

Peacekeeper born and bred, Aeryn Sun has made a major u-turn since meeting Crichton. Before this she was merely used as just another Peacekeeper puppet, following orders without questioning them. She was trained to fly Prowlers from a very early age, something she enjoyed and managed to carry on through her life as a Peacekeeper. She had very little recollection of her parents, her carers and guardians all her life being the Peacekeepers she had trained with and consequently served.

Her one fault from her insitutional upbringing before meeting Crichton was with a Peacekeeper Lieutenant, Veloric. Peacekeeper command, understanding the needs of their "employees" to relax, had assigned them both together. She started having feelings for him however, but knew he was discreetly sabotaging a Peacekeeper mission. She informed her captain, who was Crais, and Velorik was captured. Aeryn was assigned back to Prowler duty as a reward, having been reassigned to fly Marauder transport craft before.

It was on a routine mission that she encountered John Crichton and the others aboard Moya, as several transports were being moved in a large convoy. One such transport was the Leviathan, Moya - a prison transport. The prisoners on board had rebelled though, and she was one of the Prowler pilots sent to ensure the prisoners did not get away. Although she was called back, Aeryn still pursued and got sucked into Starburst with Moya. When they emerged she was immediately captured by Moya's new crew.

Meeting up with Crichton, another new captive, the two of them managed to escape and call for the Peacekeeper Command Carrier that had been escorting the convoy. During that time she found herself confused at Crichton who seemed to her to have unnaturally high amounts of compassion and other emotions she had never been taught to believe in as a Peacekeeper. However, if she remained a Peacekeeper she would be killed, as she had been in contact with an unknown lifeform, in this case Crichton. Reluctantly she sided with Moya's crew and left with them.

Since that time she has been with Moya and her crew, always the watchful and alert ex-Peacekeeper that she was before, but following her own goals and those of Moya's crew. She has also slowly been picking up traits from Crichton, such as compassion. She is still fiercely cold towards others, and fiercely independant, believing in a "shoot-first-as-questions-later" philosophy. Indeed, her favourite craft is still her Prowler, which she arrived aboard Moya in as it was sucked along through Starburst.

But Aeryn's caring side continues to grow. She has formed a special friendship with Pilot in particular, as she contains some of his DNA after being used as a lab-rat by a scientist. This friendship extends not only to Moya, but also to Talyn as well. Aeryn was the first to step aboard Talyn, and they both understand each other well due to their Peacekeeper background. Aeryn also named Talyn after her father, also named Talyn (I assume his full name would be Talyn Sun).

More recently though her attentions have been directed at Crichton, and the two have slowly been falling in love, although many arguments have seen them fall out at times. Recently though, her feelings for John have been of mistrust, due to the Scorpius chip making John kill her, and then guilt for Zhaan bringing her back to life, at the eventual cost of her own.

Since Crichton was twinned by Karvok, and the subsequent separation of the Crichtons, one travelling on Moya and another with Aeryn on Talyn, Aeryn fell in love with the Crichton she travelled with. When he died, she went through turmoil, trying at one point to bring her back with the help of someone who claimed to be her father. However, her mother, Xhalax has also come into the frame, wishing to kill Aeryn as a means to an end of acquiring Talyn and apprehending Crais, and also to have revenge on Aeryn for what her birth meant to her mother's Peacekeeper career. However, she saw the error of her ways, and killed herself, shortly after killing Aeryn's apparent father.

Since returning to Moya and the other Crichton, Aeryn has felt some attraction to him but knows he's not the man she fell in love with. When helping Crichton destroy Scorpius's wormhole experiment she also had some crosses to bear - having to help with the shut-down of Talyn (and his later burial), and also coming across some old Peacekeeper comrades and having to fight them.

And now, with seemingly nobody after them, Aeryn decided to throw a coin on whether to stay with the current Crichton or not. Now she has set off to start her new life, an ex-Peacekeeper assassin, killing to keep the peace and to stop situations before they start.

All this while being pregnant.

However, things were to get gradually worse. Aeryn arrived back on Moya infected by a virus that triggered sebacean heat delirium. And who was she rescued by?

Good ol' Scorpy!

Persuading the rest of the crew of Moya to at least give Scorpius lodgings aboard Moya, Aeryn managed to recover, though has never told anyone of any of her tales while away from Moya (as of 4.18 - Prayer). The relationship between her and Crichton has been a difficult one as of late as well, as she doesn't seem to know who the father of her child is. A sebacean can keep a fetus in stasis for seven cycles, so it could have been from before she arrived on Moya.

And with Scorpius on board, John didn't seem to want their relationship to continue either. Instead, they continued it in secret, away from prying eyes, so Scorpius couldn't use Aeryn or the baby as leverage for Crichton's wormhole tech.

But now, Aeryn has for once gravely miscalculated her battle odds. In a run-in with some PKs and Scarrens, Aeryn managed to get herself captured and placed on a Scarren freighter. They know about her and Crichton. They know about her pregnancy.

They know that, if the child is Crichton's, they can extract the wormhole tech from Crichton's residual DNA in the baby...
