Dorset World War 2 Pillboxes and Anti-Invasion Defences.

Although not far from German occupied France, Dorset was not targeted directly in the final German invasion plans. The original German Army plan called for an invasion over a wide front including Dorset, however the German Navy called for a more realistic plan involving a smaller landing area excluding Dorset. The British were unaware of the exact plans and therefore fortified the coast accordingly.
