Kimmeridge Beach, Dorset World War 2 Pillboxes and Anti-Invasion Defences.

| A type 25 pillbox is now situated 15 feet from the eroding cliff edge. The entrance is 26ins wide x 39ins high; walls 11ins thick; height of structure 7ft 3ins; concrete raft 9ins thick; 4 embrasures 9ins high x 12ins wide at front, tapering inside. It has a concrete roof laid on corrugated iron sheeting. SY 9080 7915 Near the pillbox are 2 anti-tank blocks blocking the exit from the beach at Gaulter's Gap. Both are approximately 4ft square and are spaced approx 3 ft apart. Both blocks protrude 2ft - 2.5ft above beach surface. 2ft apex constructed on top. (Photo Mick Ackrill) |
