Have you tried clicking the green button on our Homepage? If you haven't, try it! You might like it. Also, there is a bunch of MSOE info @ our Yahoo!Group site on the Files section! Mr. Au will be going to MS this coming Monday (through Friday) to check it all out for himself! Mr. Au tells me that he will be climbing that 40 foot rock wall at least once, maybe twice. Not prone to bragging, Mr. Au also told me that he was the only teacher to make it to the top! No brag, just fact! Also, last year, more girls made it to the top than boys! Imagine that! Good going to all that even made the attempt! Last year all students harnessed up and made it up the wall achieving personal bests! Hooray!
Parents, this Friday past, students received a packet with: vital forms to fill out (each packet was customized for each student), payment updates, picture/T-shirt info, and a packing list/MSOE rules sheet. Please review this information completely and meet the due dates. Final payment of balances is due on Friday, 10-10; it is important to meet this deadline, as we have a MSOE payment deadline ourselves! Thanks so much for your cooperation!
Concerning the pictures, I need your orders by Friday, 10-10, before students go off track! After that communication is much more difficult. And we need to compile and submit all the picture/T-shirt information to MSOE--this all takes time.
One more word on the forms, the forms must be filled out and turned in, if not your student will not be allowed on the bus--yes, the forms are that important! You know ducks lined up in a row sort of thing....PLEASE TURN THEM IN ON TIME.
It is a loving touch to send your child a letter so that they receive an encouraging message from you while they are at MSOE. Send a letter to your student a few days before they go down to Scotts Valley so that they receive it while they are down there. Or pack a letter in there things, to be opened while at MSOE.

The Santa Cruz area has always been one of my favorite places to go. I've often camped on the beach there at Manresa or Sunset State Parks. And my family once owned a sporting goods store in Freedom.
Arrival time at school will probably be 8 A.M. I will be disseminating information by Internet, mail, or both as the MS field trip nears. We will need to assign groups to chaperones, go through an equipment checklist for each student, and answer any last minute questions. Before coming to school double and triple check your stuff! Don't forget your pillow, have a good sturdy flashlight (Maglites are recommended, I have a mini with a holster) and don't forget extra batteries. Electronic devices are okay on the bus, to and from MS, but will be collected when you get off the bus at MSOE. Food on the bus is usually okay, so don't go hungry! You know how I am about food! Candy, however, is OFF LIMITS! That means, don't bring any. We will be having lunch @ Skypark near MSOE at around 11:30 A.M., so bring a good bag lunch!
The ride down is about 2 to 3 hours, depending on the traffic, of course. The scenery is pleasant and the ride peaceful. We will take one bathroom break about midway through our ride. (FYI, by state law, students are not allowed to use the bus restroom facilities.) As just mentioned we will stop for lunch at Skypark, then we will drive to MSOE with a scheduled arrival time of 12:30 P.M. And there you have it, the drive down to MSOE!

Maps are available and will be distributed to any chaperone who may drive. A balance of chaperones riding on the bus and driving down to MS would ideal.
We will not be able to confirm whether our bus has a video player on it or not until the day prior to our departure for MSOE. However, if you have an appropriate video that you would like to share on the bus should we have a VCR, please feel free to bring it on our trip. Make sure you check all videos, first with your parents, then Mr. Au.
On our last day at MSOE, we will begin the day as ususal, with an early wake-up call. Students will have packed the night before. We need to be out of our rooms before breakfast! After moving out of our rooms, with a room inspection to follow, we will go to breakfast. After breakfast, the busses will arrive, we'll load up, and then we'll drive to our last class at Natural Bridges. We will have lunch at about 11:30 A.M., departing after that for Foulks Ranch. The drive time may take a little longer depending on whether we hit Friday rush hour traffic or not. Our anticipated arrival time at Foulks Ranch will be 3:30 P.M.
