| 1. $50 entry fee. Players have until the Sunday of the 4th week of the NFL regular season to submit payment. If a PIG member does not submit payment, that players loses the opportunity to win year-end cash prizes. All entry fees must be submitted to the Commissioner in person or by mail. Cash and checks are accepted. Please make checks payable to "Cash" or "Joel Gaustad." 2. $100 PIG League funny money is wagered in Vegas-style betting each week of the NFL regular season. No more than $100 is wagered; no less than $100 is wagered. The $100 funny money can be wagered with 3 different types of bets: a. straight bets against the spread b. straight bets against the over/under c. parlay bets 2A. Amendment to Rule 2. At the beginning of the PIG season, each PIGger is given $1,000 as a starting account balance. The extra $1,000, heretofore referred to as the "$1000 money shot," can be wagered at ANYTIME during the course of the season. It must be wagered in increments of $100, and it can all be wagered at once (if so desired). The $1,000 money shot is NEVER replenished during the course of the year - you either win with the bets you make with the $1,000 or you lose. A PIGger may also choose NOT to use the $1,000 during the course of the season. As a result of this amendment, the maximum funny money dollar wager that a PIGger may make during a single week is $1,100. The $1000 money shot can also be used in any type of bet (straight bet, over/under bet, or parlay - see rules 3 & 4). 3. PIG members may wager as many straight bets as possible, however, there is a 2 parlay maximum per week. Parlay bets can range from 2 to 5 games with the following odds: 2 game parlay pays 2.5 to 1 odds 3 game parlay pays 5 to 1 odds 4 game parlay pays 10 to 1 odds 5 game parlay pays 20 to 1 odds 3A. Amendment to Rule 3. PIGgers may wager up to 10 straight or over/under bets per week. PIGgers may also bet up to 3 parlays/week if desired. The minimum amount for one wager is $1. 4. Odds for Sunday and Monday Night games are taken from the Caesars Sunday line (from CBS Sportsline's website - see "Odds" page) just prior to kickoff on Sunday at noon. Odds for Thursday and Saturday games are also taken from Caesars and also just prior to kickoff before their respective games. 4A. Amendment to Rule 4. With the ever-changing scope of the Internet, odds will be taken from the website that is posted on in-season PIG League website. For example, all odds for PIG IX will be taken from the link on the PIG IX website (www.geocities.com/pigleagueix) ... which happens to be CBS Sportsline. 4B. Amendment to Rule 4A. With the laziness of the Commissioner, all odds, with the exception of Thursday and Saturday games, are now taken out of the Sunday Edition of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Thursday and Saturday games are taken from the current link on the PIG homepage (www.geocities.com/pigleaguex). 5. PIG members must submit all picks prior to kickoff on Sunday at noon, or prior to kickoff on Thursday and Saturday games (for the Thursday and Saturday games only). The only exception - if a PIG member forgot to submit ALL of his picks on Sunday, he may submit a "late" pick for Monday Night's game prior to kickoff of MNF to avoid additional PIG League penalties (see rule 14). Exceptions to this rule will be voted on by the Founding Fathers (see rule 9). 6. PIG members may earn weekly bonus money by exceptional picking records. The weekly bonus money structure is as follows (a "push" is not considered a win): 13 game week 14 game week 16 game week 13 wins $750 14 wins $1500 16 wins $3000 12 wins $400 13 wins $750 15 wins $1500 11 wins $200 12 wins $400 14 wins $750 10 wins $100 11 wins $200 13 wins $350 7. Year-end money will be awarded to 1) an Overall Money Champion (the PIG member who has earned the highest $ amount wagered throughout the NFL regular season) and to 2) Weekly Winners. Year-end moeny will be divided "50/50" amongst the Overall Money Champion and the Weekly Winners pool. The payouts will be as follows: Number of paid PIG players Overall Champion Weekly Winner Pool 1 $25 $25 2 $50 $50 3 $75 $75 4 $100 $100 5 $125 $125 6 $150 $150 7 $175 $175 8 $200 $200 9 $225 $225 10 $250 $250 11 $275 $275 12 $300 $300 13 $325 $325 14 $350 $350 15 $375 $375 8. Weekly winners will be determined by the PIG member that has the highest money earned for a particular week. For instance, if a PIG member won a $100 straight bet against the spread in Week 1, and no other PIG member won a money wager, the winning PIG member would earn 1/17th of the Weekly Winner pool at the end of the year. This will continue on until the end of the NFL season, when all of the weekly winners will have been determined. In the case of a tie for the weekly winner, the weekly winner pool carries over into the next week. If Week 17 ends in a tie for a weekly winner, the winner will be determined by the PIG member who has the most number of wins for Week 17; if still unresolved, the winner will then be the PIG member with the most wins for the year; if yet still unresolved, the winner will be determined by the flip of a coin. 8A. Amendment to Rule 9. Weekly Winner money will be awarded to the PIG member who has the highest wagered balance earned for a particular week. Thus, a player can win the week even if his wagered balance for the week is negative. As long as his negative wagered balance is better than any other PIG member's wagered balance (without tying), that PIG member shall earn Weekly Winner money for that particular week. 9. Any PIG League discrepancies, disputes or dilemmas will be resolved by the PIG League Founding Fathers (Andy O'Brien, Brian Hooper, Joel Gaustad, John Rue). A 3/4 vote amongst the Founding Fathers is considered a passing vote. 10. PIG members cannot wager against themselves. For instance, if a PIG member has a huge lead going into Week 17, he cannot wager $50 for the Vikes to cover and $50 for the Vikes' opponent to cover. 11. The PIG member who is crowned the Wins Champion at the end of the regular season (the Wins Champion is the PIG member who has picked the MOST overall games correct) will also be awarded $500 in PIG funny money. In the case of a tie, the $500 will be split into the appropriate ratios. For instance, a tie amongst 2 PIGgers would result in a 50:50 split ($250 each). A tie amongst 3 PIGgers would result in a 33% split amongst the 3 winners and so on and so forth. 12. All PIG League picks are kept confidential until noon on Sunday. 13. Reigning PIG League champions are responsible for engraving the name of the newly crowned PIG League Money Champion into the highly esteemed PIG League trophy. 14. In addition to losing the $100 funny money, a PIG member who does not participate in weekly betting will also be penalized an additional $100, for a total weekly loss of -$200. 15. PIG members may earn $100 in funny money by correctly guessing the NFL team with the best regular season record. All guesses must be in by noon on Sunday of Week 1. All PIGgers with correct guesses earn $100 in funny money to be rewarded at the end of Week 17. In the case of a tie (i.e., 2 or more NFL teams have the best regular season record), each correct PIGger will win $100. If the team that has the best regular season record is NOT picked by a PIGger, no bonus money will be awarded. 15A. Amendment to Rule 15. We no longer do this silliness anymore. |
