-               Do a reflection for Pure Chemistry End-Of-Year Exam 2007, using the following guiding questions:

(1)         What are my marks for Paper 1, Paper 2 Section A, Paper 2 Section B, Paper 2 Total, and Overall Percentage?

(2)         Which topic(s) / chapter(s) have I done well in?  Why?

(3)         Which topic(s) / chapter(s) have I done badly in? Why?

(4)         What is / are the factor(s) that result in my good / poor performance?

         (E.g. amount of preparation; level of understanding in class; time management; exam stress; etc.)

(5)          What am I going to continue doing to ensure continued good performance in Sec 4?

(6)         What are the follow-up actions that I am going to take, to ensure I will do better in Sec 4?

(7)         Which topic (s) / chapter(s) do I need more help in from the teacher?  (For remedial lessons next year)

Assignment 2: Methods of Water Purification in Singapore

 

-               Search the Internet for the different methods of water purification / sources of fresh water for Singapore.

(Rivers and rain water (local and from Malaysia); Distillation of sea water; Reverse Osmosis (for NeWater).

You may refer to Theory Workbook Pg 65 to Pg 67 for a guide on what to research on.

 

-               Using Microsoft Word, Arial (font size 12), 1.5 lines spacing, 1” margins all around; type out a report (2 pages) of your research.  Include your name, index number, class and date at the top of the page.

The report / comparison table should include the following:

(1)   A brief description of the scientific methods used in the method of purification (e.g. filtration, distillation, reverse osmosis).

(2)   The amount of water supplied by each source / method.

(3)   The cost of water obtained from each source / method.

(4)   The advantage(s) / disadvantage(s) of each method.

(5)   Which method would you choose for Singapore? (You can choose one or a combination of methods) Why?

(6)   Any other interesting points.
