The South Sound Playwrights Festival (SSPF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 by award-winning playwright, Leigh Hunt.
The Festival offers opportunities for local playwrights to share their stories, for directors, actors and technicians to develop new works, and for audiences to experience the
originality and creativity of the talented pool of local theater artists.
Each summer, the SSPF produces 5-9 stage readings and 9-12 main stage performances of one-act scripts submitted by playwrights from Pierce, Kitsap, Thurston and South King
counties. They feature everything from satire to drama. Some were written to challenge, others to entertain.
Like a breath of fresh air, this month long festival offers new theater during a period of the year when many theaters are taking their summer break. After you've seen the tried and true
performances of your local community theaters all year, take a peak at something new!
