Reversing Vandalism
More pictures here
Llane Alexis - "With the stones that you threw at us, we will build our Queer Center"  The artist used the cover and back of the book as the roof and the paper inside as the walls.
Jim Provenzano - "On Your (Book) Marks" The artist received a dictionary of GLBT words and phrases.  The artist found a very old Webster's dictionary and placed the cut pieces of GLBT words and phrases like bookmarks into the Webster's.  The book is resting on a child's pull toy.  The purple sandal is to represent drag queens and is ready to lead, pulling the dictionary with it.
Rene Shaw - "The Book and I"
It is the one on the left.  It has bits of clay formed like the artist squished them in her hand.  Then there are slips of paper with lines from the book she received.  The artist welcomes people to take a slip of paper.  The artist wanted to give the book a new life after being a library book for so many years.
Lynne Averill - no title
The one piece that was cut from this book was the corner.  The artist raised it higher than the rest of the book.  Hence, "Coming Out".  The artist's quote concerning the work, "It seemed most appropriate that the book remained intact and readable as part of the art piece thereby reversing vandalism."
James Chaffee - "Art Vandalism Reverse #2" The artist put his picture in the artwork, as well as the criminal's mug shot.  The artist wants us to wonder what our reaction would be if they were reversed.  The criminal's mug shot is on the bottom of the artwork, with the red background.  I am only assuming that our artist is the one in the middle.
Marian Crane - "The Truth Remains"
It is the art on the right in the brown.  I liked the way the artist stitched the parts of the book together.  The other books are artwork as well.
