Odds and Ends

Significant non-living things in comics can also be tricky to get right, and what we have here are some quick doodles designed to cement the look of various pieces of alien technology. The top three drawings show the spacecraft piloted by Angus and Sharlay, which is actually a reference to famous British comic The Dandy and the favourite foodstuff of its lead protagonist, Desperate Dan (American readers may want to look up The Dandy Embassy to glean some idea of what on Earth I’m blithering on about here); the three drawings at the bottom show a Hypno-Disc (you’ll find out later) and how it can be fitted to a Power Prod (ditto); the pilot’s chair is a pilot’s chair; and if any fans of The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy are wondering why there’s a Babelfish sitting on the right-hand side, just consider the problems of interstallar communication that evil mutant alien cow people and burly lycanthropes might encounter without some means of simultaneous translation.

Well, it seemed to make sense at the time.
