Bobbi-Jo Sketches

Not much to see here really, mainly because Bobbi-Jo turned out to be much easier to draw than her shaggy-haired other half. This was the case with all the female characters, actually – they tended to be made up of simpler shapes, and their smaller proportions meant there was less of them to draw in the first place. One thing this project did teach me, however, is that you have to be very precise with the placement of an attractive lady’s facial features. Male characters by definition tend to be rougher around the edges, particularly hulking great bruisers like Angus and Bubba, and so offer greater leeway when it comes to putting their faces together. In fact, the brawnier they are, the less fussy you have to be regarding their looks – so long as they appear suitably burly and tough, you’re pretty much free to do whatever you want. Female characters, on the other hand – especially humans – require a lot more care when setting out their poses and expressions. A single line out of place can make them look vastly less pretty (if that’s what you’re aiming for), or just radically alter their appearance in some unforseen way.

Fat ugly girls, on the other hand, are a piece of cake. Or several huge, lard-ridden pieces of cake, as the case may be.
