A Change

Though things had been quiet in the realm as of late, the stirrings of tension were once again beginning to be felt.  Phyre knew it had been too good to last.  Once again the dark and the light were clashing.  Though the sparks so far were small and could be easily overlooked, if left unattended, they could easily escalate into a thunderous storm.

Phyre had already sent her son, Elanai, to Phatep to mediate in a dispute that was simmering there, and had plans to go into Windy Bluff this day to look into the tension being felt in that city.  The rest of the Guardians were on the lookout while on there travels through the realm, for opportunities where they could offer their mediating skills to try to stem the friction between to two alignments.

The walk from the Guardian's Clan Hall to town was a soothing trip for Phyre, but it was short lived.  As she approached the northern gates of Windy, civilization intruded once again into her life, and the reason she had come to town began to settle onto her shoulders.  She made her way down the road, heading to the Adventurers Guild located in the center of town.  But as she walked a sight drew her attention.

Standing at the side of the road, looking very much out of place, was a young lad of at the most 15 years.  He was dressed in mismatched and many sizes too large pieces of armor that he had to have found in the Temple of Tarins donation halls.  He was fumbling trying to get all the pieces to fit together correctly, and did not look like he even knew which end of the massive sword he had in his possession to hold to wield it.

Phyre watched him as she made her way past the area of road he was standing in.  She was intent on getting to the guild because she knew the two opponents she wanted to mediate for were to be there this morning, yet the sight of the boy was pulling at her heart strings.  She let out a little sigh. She had to give him a little help.  She could not walk by knowing he was in need, and nobody was going to help him.

She had felt that way most of the time.  Phyre wanted to be a teacher to the youth of the realm.  She had lived within those lands for a very long time, and wanted to pass on her knowledge to the next generation of adventurers.  But always there was the pull of dark and light against each other, and the Guardians had tried to keep the balance between the two for centuries, so there was never time to do what they all really wanted to, teach.

She slowly made her way over to the boy, for she did not want to scare him by having him think she meant him any ill will.  When she was close enough, she said to him, Greetings young adventurer.   The lad drew himself up to attention as though he were a soldier in some army, trying to look competent in his abilities and replied, Greetings to you MLady.

Phyre allowed herself a small smile at his effort, and mentally congratulated him on his attempt, though his disheveled appearance negated any ground he had won in his attempt at maturity.  If you would allow me to offer a few suggestions, I may can assist you with your armor. Phyre told him.   After giving himself the once over, the lad gave a small sigh and responded, I would welcome any help you could provide.
