My girlfriend and I rode on the same jet ski together. I was tentative at first to accelerate, but once my nerves settled, she and I were going 30 - 40 mph. However, like all the other riders, including my brothers and friends, we flipped, not once, not twice, but three times. We spent the rest of the time swimming and eating. Camping trip - 10/09/04 - 10/10/04 (see Journal Entry)[Top]
Sun-bathing, swimming, jet skiing, what more can a person ask for?!?!? Hot Springs, AR ('04) - While we were in Little Rock visiting Lilian, my girlfriend and I decided to make the 1-1/2 drive to Hot Springs (a.k.a. the Childhood Home of President Bill Clinton). We visited the Wax Museum, Hot Springs National Park, the Mountain Tower (where I took this picture of downtown Hot Springs), and ate lunch at the Arlington Resort Hotel. Best of all, we had a caricature wedding portrait of the two of us made. It's our unofficial wedding portrait. [Top]
This is a bird's-eye view of downtown Hot Springs from the Mountain Tower. Little Rock, AR ('04) - Spring Break '04, my girlfriend and I went to Little Rock, AR, to visit her mother's godmother (Lilian); it was our first trip together and we had a blast. On the way to Little Rock, we passed Hope, AR - the birthplace of President Bill Clinton. We stayed at Lilian's house the whole time and she made us feel very at home. She is such a sweet person and she made sure that we had a nice country-style breaskfast every morning - sausages, bacons, eggs, muffins and coffee. It was my first trip to Arkansas, so I was determined to visit as many places as I could. We visited the State Capital Building, The Old State House Museum, the Rivermarket, Park Plaza Mall, and we ate lunch at Ashley's at the Capital. [Top]
I took this picture of the Arkansas Capital building, seen through the blossoms, while in Theresa's car. UTSA - San Antonio, TX ('03) - My youngest brother was preparing to enter his freshman year of college, at UTSA, that fall, so my family and I decided to check out the campus. Although we have been to San Antonio many times before, with visits , the Alamo, and the Riverwalk, it was our first visit to UTSA (but definitely not the last). Interestingly enough, Fiesta Texas is just across the freeway from the UTSA Main Campus. [Top]
Water fountain at the Student Center where UTSA students can relax and study. Reno, NV ('03) - I went to Reno, in June of 2003, for a sexual harrassment case that I was assigned to, one month before we were to go to trial. It was a very interesting case and Reno was a very interesting place to visit, with slot machines located all over the place, even at your local drug and grocery stores. Reno is located in a valley and in the distance to the south, between two mountain tops, is Lake Tahoe, which is at the border of California and Nevada. The locals told me that Lake Tahoe is one about 1-1/2 hours from Reno. I stayed at the beautiful Sienna Hotel Spa & Casino. It was an invaluable learning experience and an overall great trip. [Top]
I took this picture of the famous Reno archway while standing in the middle of the street. Moody Gardens - Galveston, TX ('03) - I have been to Moody Gardens many times before with my family, often walking through the garden and catching an IMAX showing. The day I took this picture, we were there with relatives from Kansas. We didn't do much that day except to take a tour of the Aquarium. We saw many fascinating sea creatures and I was able to take a close-up picture of a sea turtle. It had one deformed, undeveloped front limb. [Top]
