Jamie Thomas
Jamie H. Thomas was named Director of Bands at Piedmont High School in July 2002. Along with the "Marching Blue Knights", Mr. Thomas conducts the high school Symphonic Band, Beginning Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Jazz Band. He also conducts the basketball pep band.
Mr. Thomas is a native of Centre, Alabama and graduated from Cherokee County High School. He is a 2001 graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in instrumental music education. While in college, he was saxophone section leader for the University of Alabama's "Million Dollar Band". He also performed in the Alabama Symphonic Band, the UA Jazz Ensemble, the UA Wind Ensemble and the UA Saxophone Quartet. Previous teaching experience includes a year as Band Director at Ragland High School in St. Clair County, AL. He also taught private saxophone lessons through the University of Alabama Community School of Music. Mr. Thomas is affiliated with the following professional organizations: MENC, AMEA, and ABA. Mr Thomas resides in Piedmont with his wife Lynn and his dog Oscar.
