Ann L.
Hurd
Ann was born in
Lancaster, California. Her parents, George and Alida (Lee) Hurd,
came to Lake Hughes, California in 1945 from Massachusetts and built
a house for the duration of the war. George and Lee finally moved
into Lancaster when Ann and her brother George went away to
college.
Ann received her BA degree from San
Diego State College and later received two master's degrees and a
doctorate of education from the University of La Verne. Ann has been
in education for over 30 years. She is currently the principal at
West Wind Elementary School in Lancaster.
Ann's love
for photography has evolved over the years. Her first special photo
was one she took of the first man on the moon, where she made it
look like it was an original photo and not taken in front of the
television. She claims she had to start selling her photographs
because she ran out of wall space in her home to hang them.
Ann is a member of the Lancaster Photography Association and
enjoys field trips and learning from other members of the club. She
loves to travel and spends every vacation going to someplace special
to take pictures of beautiful scenery. She recently traveled to
Mexico and found the people so photogenic that she actually took
some "people" shots. Her latest adventure was a trip to Churchill,
Canada to take photos of polar bears. And her next major trip is to
Ireland.
