THE TRANSFORMATION BEGINS
By far the most time consuming part was the initial sanding, crack
filling and transformation of the fiberglass. Here you see a portion of
my self designed side pods, location of fuel filler door and the first
plan of attack at making a dash. Side view mirror is a power unit from
a 1987 Mercury Sable.
Trial fit of the original engine of choice. A 1.7 liter T4 from a 1973
T2 Westfalia. Second photo showing back section of right side pod and exhaust
outlets.

A few shots showing the initial body design changes. The first and
second pictures show the differences with and without sidepods. Original
choice of wheels were 1972 Crysler Royal Monaco factory mags. The third
picture shows the beginnings of my power trunk design. It is controlled
by a power window switch on the dash and operated using a Dodge power window
regulator. A second window switch controls a General Motors power seat
motor to open and close the power fuel access door on the hood. The last
picture shows the two scoops that form when the trunk lid is closed. Fourteen
high intensity red LED's are mounted inside the scoops and do double duty
as brake and signal lights. The Mercury Sable tail lights also function
as tail, stop and signal lights.
First trial fit of the 1995 Crown Victoria headlights. These units
are made of plastic and have been cut in half, discarding the original
low beam portion. With the roll bar design completed and sprayed with red
andonizing paint I applied some color to the right side of the body. The
nice thing about using color change paint is it can be done in stages as
color match is not a concern.
